Gili Trawangan, Lombok Post #10

Remember to click on pictures to expand.
Mom and I took off from Bali for a few days to spend some time in the sun and sea.  We went to Gili T, which is one of three sandbar islands off of the Island of Lombok.  Gili T is about 7km long and there are no motorized vehicles.  Just sand, water, cottages, food and fun!!!!  What else does one need? This is Lombardun and the cottages to rent in the village.  It is an island we need to connect to via boat.  The Boat ride to Gili T from Bali is about 3 hours.  It was quite rough seas.  However, great views except the few people losing their lunch out the boats windows!

This is a houseboat.  The sides are for balance during rough seas.  They always paint their boat very colourful.

Isn't this cool!!! Waterside park in the middle of the ocean and can only get to by boat.  The slides go right into the sea!  Awesome!!!!! We should have one of these in Vancouver Bay.

This use to be a big island. But now it has been washed away by the seas and only has one little tree.

This is the town of Gili T.  It is about 2km long and only a dirt road with cafes, bars and small cottages along.  Can only travel by foot, bike or horse carraige.  Good times.

A bike to ride around.

Me in my first horse carraige ride.

Very shaky but the only way to go.  The horses are small and strong.  Very cute too.

Our cute villa, 2 stories and the bathroom is in the back yard.  No fresh running water, all salt water showers.  The bedroom is upstairs and has this great lounge area under the deck.  Very nice.

This is the upstairs. Low ceilings and you can see the stairway hole behind me that leads to the backyard bathroom.

This is a new cottage under construction.  Very different to how we build in Vancouver.

This is my morning view before breakfast.  Rough life, eh?

This is how groceries are delivered to the cottages and cafe's by women carrying them in baskets on their heads.

This is a run down resort and mom has decided we are moving here and renovating it for our home and business.  Nice knowing you all, but life on Gili T seems too nice to pass up.  See ya.

Another hard day and horrible view.

Daily walk for me to meet some of the local fish.

This is the neighboring island Gili Meno that can be seen from the beach at Gili T.  Rough life they have.

This is mom's morning run path around the island.  7km and sooooo much traffic.

Who would want to leave.

Full Moon night with Gili Meno in the background.

Pirates like come to Gili T too.

Tide is out and seeing what is left behind.

My daily chores.

Full moon sends a magical night.

Next post is about my favorite subject.......FOOD.   Enjoy.

JODIE O'SHEA Orphanage Post #9

Jodie O'Shea was sadly killed in the 2002 Bali Bombings.  Her Australian family opened this orphanage 7 years ago in her honor.  The children here are from different pasts, however, they are very well loved and cared for here at Jodie O'Shea.  I had the honor to visit the orphanage during my visit and made many friends.  I will be starting some projects in order to raise awareness and funds for my new friends.  Please continue to visit my blog and
make comments below to say 'hello' to the children.
Sophia.  Sooo cute.
Many great new friends my age.

Happiness is the secret.  Teenagers go to job training after they finish high school.  That is also supported by the orphanage.

Cutie pie.  He was a bit shy to meet me.
